Introduction to Clipart
Clipart on a Discus board is accessed by users when they provide the \clipart{filename} formatting tag in their posts. For more information on the
use of formatting tags, consult the formatting instructions.
To add additional clipart to your board, simply transfer by FTP the image files into your Discus "clipart" directory, which is found under your main Discus HTML
files directory. Once uploaded, your clipart will be instantly available for use by your users and it will also automatically display in the clipart index.
Your clipart files must have extension .gif in order to be recognized by the program.
Other Clipart FAQs
Where is the clipart index?
The clipart index for your board is linked from your formatting instruction page. In Discus 4.0 and higher, the optional "formatting panel" component of skins
links to a version of this clipart gallery. You may choose to copy this link and display it in a more prominent location if your users will make frequent use of
clipart.
Using the clipart tag produces a broken link!
The program does not verify that the referenced clipart file actually exists in the directory. Thus, if an invalid file name was typed, the clipart will display
as a broken image. Remember that you do not include the extension when you are typing it in your formatting tag.
I want to add .jpg clipart as well, can I?
If you wish to add JPEG images (with extension .jpg) as clipart, you must add an appropriate formatting tag to the Discus webtags.conf file. Documentation for
adding formatting tags is provided on this page. Note that the board-image-lister.cgi script will not display this
clipart without some tweaking, which is not supported by DiscusWare. It is generally the case that the clipart files are small images, for which the GIF file format
is most appropriate.
