To enable e-mail notification, you must have configured Discus to work with a command line mailer or SMTP server, enabled the e-mail notification options for your board, and set up your profile to send you e-mail notification. These notes tell you how to do this in currently available versions of Discus and Discus Professional:
Discus 4.0 and higher
In the Options Manager, go to the "E-mail" tab. This screen allows you to set up the technical configuration of e-mail notification and to enable relevant global options. At minimum, from this page, you must have checked:
Server is capable of sending e-mail messages
E-mail notification enabled
The administration instructions (4.1 | 4.0) contain complete instructions for setting up e-mail notification, and provide helpful tips on common technical configurations.
Once you have set up e-mail notification in the Options Manager, within your profile, you must enable e-mail notification for at least one topic, or for your own posts, or in Discus Professional, replies to your posts. For all topics you selected, or for your own posts or replies to your posts, you will receive an e-mail notification message when a new post is made.
Discus 3.1 and lower
Check all of the following boxes in your Options Manager to enable e-mail notification:
Server is capable of sending e-mail messages
E-mail notification enabled
The administration instructions contain limited instructions for setting up e-mail notification, and provide helpful tips on common technical configurations. Note: the administration instructions for Discus 3.1 are no longer maintained.
Once you have set up e-mail notification in the Options Manager, within your profile, you must enable e-mail notification for at least one topic, or for your own posts, or in Discus Professional, replies to your posts.
