Uninstalling Discus

Uninstallation instructions for Discus.
Support Site Search

To remove Discus from your site, you need to delete the following directories (and all files therein):

  • Discus administration directory (admin_dir in discus.conf)
  • Discus HTML directory (html_dir in discus.conf)
  • Discus script directory (script_dir in discus.conf)

When those directories are removed, Discus is completely uninstalled. Discus doesn't have any registry entries, files hidden under c:\windows, DLL files, or other files associated with it.

Notes
  1. If you must remove all files by FTP, you will save yourself time by going to Topic Manager (or Board Manager in earlier versions) and deleting all of the topics on your board before you manually remove files by FTP. This will cut down on the number of directories and files that you must remove manually.

  2. If you did a telnet or console installation, you can remove the "discusX_XX" directory that was used during installation. (You could have removed this a long time ago.)

  3. You can remove ftpdiag.cgi, dconfig.cgi, and board-setup.cgi, which are the Discus web-based setup forms used for various installation methods. In fact, these can be removed when you're done installing Discus.
