The Archive Manager is an Discus Pro interface, available to the board administrator, that serves two functions. First, it allows the configuration of
automatic archiving and pruning, where messages can be moved or deleted based on thread length or the number of threads on a page. Second, it allows
certain manual operations, where the board administrator can effect mass moves or deletions based on selected criteria.
The Archive Manager is divided into 4 functional screens:
-
Automatic Archiving/Pruning by Number of Messages: Controls the number of messages that can
be posted onto a page; when administrator-defined thresholds are reached, messages are moved or deleted.
-
Automatic Archiving/Pruning by Number of Threads: Controls the number of threads that can be
added in a particular listing; when administrator-defined thresholds are reached, threads are moved or deleted.
-
Manual Archiving: Provides manual archiving operations, including archiving based on message
date and posting activity. These options are useful for controlling very active areas or moving around old content that has not been recently
updated.
-
Manual Pruning: Provides manual pruning operations, allowing old messages and stale threads
to be removed.
