Discus Freeware and Professional - Version 4.x
  • FTP Installation Instructions - Discus Freeware: Use this document if you have FTP access to your server and you have never installed Discus on that server. This is the most common situation for customers with remotely hosted web sites. This document applies to both Discus 4.0 and 4.1.

  • FTP Installation Instructions - Discus Professional: Use this document if you have FTP access to your server and you have never installed Discus on that server. This document applies to both Discus 4.0 and 4.1. Please note that if you are upgrading from Discus Freeware to Discus Professional, you need another document.

  • Unix - Telnet/SSH Installation Instructions (Discus 4.0 | Discus 4.1): Use this document if your website is hosted on a unix server, and you have the ability to log in to that machine and get a command prompt via a telnet or SSH session. Some, but not all, remotely hosted situations offer this access.

  • Windows - Console Installation Instructions (Discus 4.0 | Discus 4.1): Use this document if your website runs on a Windows server, and you have the ability to sit down in front of that machine to type and run programs. This is generally the case if you run your own server (e.g., your intranet's web server). This is almost never the case if your web site is hosted remotely.

Discus Freeware and Professional - Version 3.10

Important Note: Versions 3.10 and below are no longer supported. Customers installing Discus for the first time should use version 4.x (see above). The following documentation remains available for historical purposes but is no longer maintained.

  • FTP Installation Instructions - Discus Freeware: Use this document if you have FTP access to your server and you have never installed Discus on that server. This is the most common situation for customers with remotely hosted web sites.

  • FTP Installation Instructions - Discus Professional: Use this document if you have FTP access to your server and you have never installed Discus on that server. Please note that if you are upgrading from Discus Freeware to Discus Professional, you need another document.

  • Unix - Telnet/SSH Installation Instructions for version 3.10: Use this document if your website is hosted on a unix server, and you have the ability to log in to that machine and get a command prompt via a telnet or SSH session. Some, but not all, remotely hosted situations offer this access.

  • Windows - Console Installation Instructions for version 3.10: Use this document if your website runs on a Windows server, and you have the ability to sit down in front of that machine to type and run programs. This is generally the case if you run your own server (e.g., your intranet's web server). This is almost never the case if your web site is hosted remotely.
